'Tee It Up With AT&T' Global Charity Golf Tour Raises Awareness and Funds for American Cancer Society Relay For Life(R)

SAN ANTONIO, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T will launch its second annual "Tee It Up With AT&T" Global Charity Golf Tour on June 19 to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life program.

AT&T's "Tee It Up with AT&T" comprises 14 local golf events with one goal: to raise significant funds for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life program. The golfing gets underway in Columbus, Ohio, on June 19 and concludes Oct. 18 in Phoenix, Arizona.

AT&T plans to break several records this year, starting with an expectation that more than 1,600 players will participate in the 2006 "Tee It Up" tournaments. In addition, AT&T has expanded the reach of the tournament beyond the U.S. and Canada to the U.K. in support of the Society's ties with cancer-related organizations throughout the world.

"Gaining support and participation from local communities around the world is crucial to the American Cancer Society's success," said Sally West Brooks, R.N., M.A., chair of the National Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society. "Events like 'Tee It Up With AT&T' enable participants to not only support the cause, but also learn more about the disease and what we need to do to fight it. This ties directly to two of our key goals -- education and advocacy -- to achieve our mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem and diminish suffering for cancer patients."

"Tee It Up" sponsors can select from either Tour Level Sponsorships, which entitle sponsors to foursomes at multiple events in the U.S., Canada and U.K.; or Event Level Sponsorships for foursomes at the local tournament in their area. Individuals are also welcome to join fund-raising foursomes. Tour Level sponsors have the opportunity to attend an exclusive appreciation event at the world-renowned Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey on Oct. 16, 2006.

In addition, both local tournament champions and tournament sponsors will be entered into "Tee It Up" grand-prize drawings. Winners from each category will enjoy an exclusive four-day, three-night trip to Monterey, Calif., for a round of golf on both the Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spanish Bay, compliments of the Pebble Beach Company. AT&T will announce the grand-prize winners on Oct. 16.

"Last year's 'Tee It Up' beat its original goal by raising more than $1.7 million for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life," said Jim Stapleton, eastern region sales vice president at AT&T. "We are extremely proud to stage 'Tee It Up' and to ensure another unqualified success for the Society."

Marking AT&T's seventh consecutive year of participation, "Tee It Up" further enhances AT&T's support for Relay For Life, a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for American Cancer Society research and programs. Relay teams of people will gather at schools, fairgrounds or parks, and take turns walking or running laps for 24 hours. AT&T was one of the founders and has been one of the largest corporate contributors to the Relay For Life National Team program.
