AT&T Hosts Convera Search Platform
VIENNA, Va., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T today announced a $2.9 million agreement to provide a hosting solution for Convera Corp., a leading provider of search and categorization software for enterprises and government agencies.
Under the terms of two separate two-year agreements, AT&T will host and provide around-the-clock monitoring of Convera's Web indexing search platform. This next-generation search technology has been developed to add structure to the Web through the use of proprietary taxonomies and ontologies, semantic analysis and deep knowledge resources capable of providing end-users with more relevant search results.
The technology also supports complex queries, offers built in video and image search, and provides geo-locational data. The hosting solution also supports Convera's business continuity plan through redundancies and automatic data backup.
"By hosting with AT&T, Convera will be able to deliver a robust search solution that meets the security and reliability demands of our customers," said Patrick C. Condo, Convera's Chief Executive Officer. "AT&T's worldwide presence also provides Convera with future international growth possibilities."
The hosting solution is provided from AT&T Internet Data Centers (IDCs) in Texas and Southern California. AT&T operates 26 IDCs around the world.
