Tesla Website And Twitter Account Hacked

(RTTNews) - While Tesla Motors Inc.'s (TSLA) Twitter account has apparently been restored, its website still appears to be down, and now its CEO Elon Musk's Twitter account is hacked, too.

Tesla's Twitter account was hacked on Saturday around 4:50 p.m. New York time by a person or people who identified themselves as the #ripprgang.

Over about a 10-minute period, the hacker sent out 11 tweets, mostly tagging other people and advertising a "free Tesla" if people called a number that routes to a computer repair shop in Oswego, Ill.

Tesla locked down the account quickly. The account stopped sending out tweets at around 5 p.m.

It's becoming commonplace to see Twitter accounts get hacked, especially when they're owned by celebrities or big brands.
