Newmont Mining Corp. Q4 Profit Retreats 77%

(RTTNews) - Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM) announced earnings for fourth quarter that declined compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $20 million, or $0.04 per share. This was down from $86 million, or $0.17 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.12 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 9.9% to $1.82 billion. This was down from $2.02 billion last year.
