Apple Offers In-store Repairs For Cracked IPhone 5c Screens

(RTTNews) - Apple (AAPL) is now able to fix cracked iPhone 5C screens at retail stores around the country, CNNMoney reports. For $149, the cheaper of Apple's iPhone 5 model can be repaired while you wait.

This means that most users of the budget phone "can walk in with a broken phone and out with a fixed phone and not have to re-install all of their applications and data," according to 9to5mac.com, which broke news of the move last November.

Most 5C cracks can apparently be handled within a few hours, but it is not clear whether severely damaged phones can be treated on-site.

This week's rollout of in-store 5C repairs will represent a full-scale launch in all of Apple's retail regions aside from Hong Kong and Canada, 9to5mac reports.

The move to offer in-store repairs is seemingly a response to the rising popularity of third-party repair services, which are cheaper but void iPhone warranties, according to CNNMoney.

Unfortunately for Apple's iPhone 5s customers and those using the older iPhone 4 model, repairs will still need to be shipped out at a cost of $229.
