Woman Poked By Needle At Target Awarded $4.6 Mln
(RTTNews) - A South Carolina woman has been awarded more than $4.6 million by a jury after she was stuck by a needle picked up in a Target parking lot.
In May 2014, Carla Denise Garrison got injured after her 8-year-old daughter picked up a needed in a Target parking lot in Anderson, South Carolina. Garrison swatted the needle out of her child's hand, and got the needle stuck in her right palm. Garrison sought treatment for a possible HIV infection that made her bedridden.
Garrison's lawyer offered to settle the case for $12,000, however, Target offered only $750 in response.
According to the Independent-Mail of Anderson, if the settlement verdict is upheld, it would be one of the largest in Anderson County history.
Target is expected to file for an appeal.
