Windows 10 Coming July 29

(RTTNews) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) Monday confirmed it will ship Windows 10, the much-awaited latest version of its operating system, on July 29.

Microsoft has designed Windows 10 to run across a broad range of devices - from Windows PCs to Xbox to tablets and smartphones. It will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8 users, who upgrade in the first year.

The entire PC industry is looking forward to the launch, as everyone expects Windows 10 to improve the sluggish sales of PCs. The update is coming to 190 countries.

Users can reserve for the free Windows 10 upgrade using Microsoft's reservation process and will be notified when the update is available and can schedule to install it when they want.

Windows 10 sports several new features, including the Cortana personal digital assistant, a new Microsoft browser called Microsoft Edge, built in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Windows Continuum.

Windows 10 was initially unveiled in September 2014 as a successor to Windows 8.1, to address shortcomings in the user interface introduced by Windows 8 by improving the user experience for non-touchscreen devices.
