Wayne S. DeVeydt to Lead WellPoint Investor Relations

INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WellPoint, Inc. announced today that Wayne S. DeVeydt, senior vice president and chief accounting officer for WellPoint, will add the oversight of investor relations to his areas of responsibility. Tami Durle, who served as vice president of investor relations since 2001, announced her departure from WellPoint to pursue other opportunities.

DeVeydt and his investor relations staff will serve as a primary liaison between the company and the investment community and will facilitate the company's quarterly earnings teleconference calls.

"Providing timely and accurate information to the investment community, including our shareholders, is one of our major responsibilities," said David Colby, executive vice president and chief financial officer for WellPoint, Inc. "Wayne's deep knowledge of our business and our company's financial operations will serve him well in this important role."

"I want to publicly acknowledge Tami's many contributions to the company, including her role in building a well-respected IR function as WellPoint transitioned from a mutual company to one that is investor owned," said Colby.

DeVeydt, who joined WellPoint in 2005, will continue with his other responsibilities including managing the company's accounting operations and financial reporting functions, and oversight for Securities and Exchange Commission filings and corporate tax policies and compliance.
