Uber PR Head Leaving

(RTTNews) - Uber's Head of Policy and Communications Rachel Whetstone left the company. She was the longest serving female executive with two years of service. The transportation network start up with a history of eight years, has been witnessing top level exits these days.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, who announced the resignation, said the decision was Rachel's. She joined Uber from Google in June 2015 and had served as adviser to Michael Howard, a prominent British politician.

Jill Hazelbaker, senior vice president of policy and communications, will be replacing Rachel.

The cab hailing app company has been in rattles these days. The company has ordered an urgent investigation following its former employ Susan Fowler published a blog in February with allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination. She claimed that the number of female employees in Uber has declined from 25 to 6 percent by the time she left the company. Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is leading the investigation.

Recently, Uber's President Jeff Jones has left the company after serving just six months in the job. Earlier in March, CEO Travis Kalanick had to issue an apology to all his employees after a video, showing him in a heated argument with one of his drivers over falling fares and low pay, became public. The dashboard cam video showed a heated argument on Uber's history of lowering fares. Kalanick was of the view that drivers should take responsibility to own problems and not blame Uber for that.

In January, the San Francisco based company had agreed to pay $20 million to resolve Federal Trade Commission for misleading prospective drivers with exaggerated earning claims.
