The Award-Winning High-Density Outlet Technology (HDOT) PDU Now with Per Outlet Power Sensing
RENO, Nev., Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With tens of thousands of HDOT PDUs already installed, Server Technology has now completed its most popular and innovative product line ever with the addition of the HDOT Switched POPS (Per Outlet Power Sensing) PDU. Now with device level monitoring, the most uniquely valuable rack PDU on the market provides the #1 solution for density, capacity planning, and remote power management for the modern data center.
The HDOT Alt-Phase PRO2 rack PDU expands on our modular PDU design allowing custom user configuration. See the Build-Your-Own PDU website at https://byopdu.servertech.com to configure your perfect Switched POPS, Smart POPS, Switched only, or Smart only high-density rack PDU. Our all-new Four-Step configuration process is user-friendly and guides you graphically through selecting voltage, amperage, phase, plug type, input cord orientation, outlet configuration, connectivity, and color selection. With thousands of configurations possible, the customer is sure to find exactly the right product for their application.
"Integrating power measurement to our HDOT Alt Phase modular product family was a significant engineering challenge which I'm proud to say we accomplished without sacrificing quality or manufacturability," said Travis Irons, Director of Engineering at Server Technology.
Here's a breakdown of available features:
Per Outlet Power Sensing
Our latest addition to the HDOT product line is Per Outlet Power Sensing (POPS), which provides +/-1% billable-grade accuracy for energy consumption at each outlet for typical data center equipment loads. POPS also includes current, voltage, active power, apparent power, power factor, and crest factor at each outlet. This provides the ultimate in efficiency and capacity analysis. POPS enables alarms and warning signals on current, power, and power factor for both low and high values.
High Density Outlet Technology (HDOT)
To combat the limited physical space that PDUs compete for in the data center rack, Server Technology developed High Density Outlet Technology (HDOT), the smallest form factor PDU which significantly increases real estate in the back of the rack by fitting as many as 42 C13's in a 42U high network managed PDU device—that's over 20 percent smaller than a comparable PDU using standard outlets. In conjunction with the launch of HDOT, Server Technology developed a quick turn manufacturing process that provides short lead times for PDU's with the exact combination of C19 and C13 outlets in the locations where the customer needs them. The HDOT design also provides high native cord retention of over 12 pounds pull strength, reducing or eliminating the need for custom and costly ancillary locking cord devices. With increasing outlet density comes increased power, and potentially increased heat. HDOT is manufactured with robust high-temperature materials carrying a UL94 V-0 flame rating, making these outlets ideally suited for the harshest data center environments.
Alt-Phase
To simplify load balancing and cable management, Server Technology offers PDUs with Alternating Phase outlets, which distributes phases on a per receptacle basis (rather than in discrete separate banks), providing tangible benefits in the form of shorter cable runs, resulting in better airflow, easier load balancing, and greater efficiencies. Prior to the advent of HDOT, Alternating Phase products were impractical to build due to the low outlet density inherent with discreet commercially available outlets.
PRO2
PRO2 is a flexible and feature-rich hardware and firmware platform, higher onboard compute power, all modern security protocols, redundant features, and advanced customization all built into the product. The new PRO2 architecture is ideal in any situation where reliability and uptime are important, particularly in high temperature and high-security applications. With PRO2, customers can maintain uptime with access to current data and future trends.
Switched Outlets
With the ability to turn ON and OFF or reboot outlets individually or as a group, certain features become possible such as outlet access and lock-out, power-up outlet sequencing that reduces the likelihood of power-up inrush, and our optional smart load shedding.
