Tech Data Expands Portfolio of Consumption-Based IT Solutions

Consumption-based business models are changing how technology is procured, as business leaders search for new approaches to reaching higher performance without overspending on unused capacity and provisioning. Tech Data (Nasdaq: TECD) is raising the bar for solution aggregators by providing consumption-based IT solutions through its extensive portfolio of end-to-end solutions, including the recent first-of-its-kind channel delivery of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) GreenLake Flex Capacity for Partners, a suite of curated, consumption-based IT solutions.

"Consumption-based solutions solve a real need in the marketplace for businesses to purchase what they need, when they need it,” said Brian Ellis, vice president, HPE Solutions at Tech Data. "In the case of HPE GreenLake, our inroads are a direct result of working closely with our partners to provide expert guidance and support in championing and monetizing the model. Through our combined efforts and capabilities, as well as the ease of doing business with HPE, our customers are finding great success in the marketplace migrating to consumption-based models, as end-user customers continue to diversify their approaches to building out hybrid cloud solutions.”

The consumption-based, or pay-as-you-go, IT model delivers the outcomes businesses are demanding, but with the ability to remain fluid as their needs for capacity change. This approach also allows customers to keep their systems operating on the most current technology available without significant capital investment. The Tech Data portfolio of consumption-based IT solutions stretches across the areas of cloud, analytics, IoT, security and data center, and several vendor lines—delivering the most comprehensive offerings available through a single aggregator.

"Tech Data has provided our team with a great portfolio of options to support our customers’ needs, and their team has supported us through every step of the process,” said Bob Panos, vice president of Sales, American Digital, an enterprise IT solution provider and Tech Data partner. "They have worked closely with us to make sure we have the expertise and materials necessary to accelerate positive business outcomes for our customers.”

According to industry analyst firm IDC, "while consumption-based models are widely recognized as an efficient and fair way of aligning price with value for a variety of digital goods, many organizations struggle with the process and technology changes and requirements needed to successfully develop and offer these models.”1

Tech Data stands ready with the expertise and resources needed to implement and manage consumption-based offerings that position customers to navigate the complexities of digital transformation.
