Reinsurance Group Of America Posts Q2 Loss - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Reinsurance Group of America Inc. (RGA) Thursday reported second-quarter loss of $49.61 million or $0.69 per share, compared to a profit of $141.11 million or $1.91 per share in the same period last year.

Operating loss for the quarter was $71.80 million or $0.99 per share, compared to a profit of $122.27 million or $1.65 per share last year.

On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.83 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Book value per share dropped to $82.97 from $84.75 last year.

Net premiums totaled $2.04 billion, up 4 percent from $1.95 billion last year.
