Otis Selected to Move Fans at Chase Center, Future Home of the 2017 Champion Golden State Warriors
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- When the new home of the 2017 champion Golden State Warriors opens for the 2019-20 season, Otis will keep their fans moving around the arena. Otis, the world's leading manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, will provide nearly 70 units for the Warriors' sports and entertainment venue, anchored by Chase Center and two office buildings. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Under the agreement with Mortenson/Clark, Otis will provide more than 35 elevators, 19 energy-efficient, environmentally-responsible NCE escalators, nine wheelchair lifts and one dumbwaiter for the state-of-the-art facility in San Francisco. The product mix includes 28 Gen2® units, the revolutionary elevator system that redefined the industry by replacing conventional ropes with flat belts, leading to a more comfortable ride, greater reliability, more efficient operation and increased energy efficiency compared to conventional roped elevators. There are also five custom hydraulic and geared units as well as four HydroFit™ units, Otis' hydraulic elevator system that provides architects and builders with greater design freedom and eliminates the need for a machine room where possible.
Otis also has entered into an affiliation agreement with Golden State Warriors Arena LLC that makes Otis an official development partner of Chase Center.
"We are honored that Otis equipment will be part of this exciting and transformative project in the city of San Francisco," said Jim Cramer, vice president, Western Region, Otis North America. "We are proud to offer our innovative technology to meet the demands of this development project, and we are committed to creating a seamless passenger experience for everyone who visits Chase Center."
Chase Center, which will be situated in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco, is a landmark project that will include an 18,000-seat multi-purpose arena and event space, 580,000 square feet of office / lab space, 100,000 square feet of retail space and a 35,000-square-foot public plaza.
Otis will be onsite installing new equipment in 2018 and will work on the project through July 2019. The arena is scheduled to open before the start of the 2019-20 NBA season.
