Newsbyte: SAP Brings Big Data Truck to Farnborough International Airshow
SAP NEWSBYTE — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced their presence at Farnborough International Airshow in the UK to demonstrate how aerospace and defense organisations can harness the potential of big data to innovate, simplify work and help attract new clients and increase profits.
The aviation industry is ripe for innovation in the form of Big Data analytics. Aircrafts create significant amounts of data during operation, which can, and should, be analysed to increase operational efficiencies, allow proactive maintenance, and ultimately, save industry players time and money – whether they are flying passengers over the Atlantic or seeking customer intelligence.
The SAP Big Data platform, applications, analytics, and services can help deliver real business value from data in real-time. At the show, SAP will be demonstrating this through the SAP Big Data Truck, which will host a number of demo showcases on board, highlighting how SAP helps transform aerospace and defense businesses into data-driven organisations, covering how they can:
- Analyse large volumes of engineering, production and supply chain data to achieve operational excellence
- Harness value from data outside of business systems, leverage "Smart Equipment” data by using the newest aircraft health monitoring systems
- Innovate with Big Data solutions – using SAP Big Data solutions and technologies as an OEM product to strengthen their own competitive position in the growing security and airline operation support markets
In this mobile showroom, innovative use cases will provide real examples of how SAP is working with organisations across all industries to do just this. Examples include equipment health monitoring, understanding why the German soccer team is a world leader in strategy and speed, and viewing an airline operations crew recovery process.
"We are very excited to welcome everyone on board our Big Data Truck at Farnborough International Airshow this week,” said Magnus Bjorendahl, vice president and global head of Aerospace & Defense at SAP. "Big Data is widely talked about within the industry, so I’m pleased to be able to bring it to life with hands-on demo showcases, and it gives us the opportunity to engage with prospects, customers and partners. Being able to support these aerospace and defense organisations in gaining valuable insights from data to help transform their business, and indeed the wider world, is truly exciting.”
