NASA Wows With Driverless Electric Car

(RTTNews) - NASA has come out with a video of its new Modular Robotic Vehicle prototype that includes some features of its auto-driving rovers that power its space mission.

The space agency's battery-powered Modular Robotic Vehicle (MRV) can self-operate, even remotely, and can attain speed of 40 miles per hour. The curb weight is 2,000 pounds and it measures 7 feet by 5 feet.

A striking feature of the MRV is that each of the four wheel is an independent module, and can rotate so as to enable sideways movement. The MRV is in development at Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Quite a lot of companies have evinced interest in self-driving cars, including Google.
