MetLife Q2 Profit Tops Estimate

(RTTNews) - MetLife, Inc. (MET) reported second quarter net income of $1.0 billion or $0.92 per share, compared to $1.3 billion or $1.17 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Operating earnings for the second quarter were $1.8 billion or $1.56 per share, compared to $1.6 billion or $1.39 per share in the prior year quarter.

Total operating revenue for the second quarter fell to $17.36 billion from $17.80 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.48 per share on revenue of $17.64 billion for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
