Macrovision's InstallShield Inducted into Software Development Magazine's Jolt Awards Hall of Fame Also Wins Programmer's Paradise's Best Installation and Deployment Tool for Sixth Consecutive Year
Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq:MVSN), the leader in software value management, today announced that Software Development magazine has inducted Macrovision's InstallShield(R) into the Jolt Product Hall of Fame, an honor given to only one product each year. In addition, InstallShield was given the "Riding the Crest" award for the 2004 best-selling installation and deployment tool by Programmer's Paradise.
"Since InstallShield burst onto the developer scene in 1987, the company has been committed to making the installation process as easy as possible for all developers," said Alexandra Weber Morales, editor in chief of Software Development magazine. "We felt that Macrovision's InstallShield should be inducted into the Hall of Fame for its longevity and success in standardizing the software installation process -- thus establishing an entirely new niche of software tools."
"We are honored to join this impressive list of companies, including the likes of Borland, Microsoft and Macromedia, that have been inducted into Software Development magazine's Jolt Awards Hall of Fame over the past 15 years," said Bob Corrigan, InstallShield product manager for Macrovision's Software Technologies Group. "We believe that being acknowledged by such an award demonstrates InstallShield's position as the de facto standard for software installations."
Presented at the 2005 SD West conference, the Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards have been presented annually over the past 15 years to products, books and websites that have "jolted" the industry by helping to create faster, easier and more efficient software. The Programmer's Paradise's "Riding the Crest" award recognizes InstallShield's popularity as the installation tool of choice for the developer community and highlights a record year of sales in 2004.
Software installation is a key component of Macrovision's Software Value Management(TM) solutions, which also include updating, packaging, licensing, entitlement management, end user management, and usage optimization. In late 2004, Macrovision released the first version of InstallShield to be integrated with other Macrovision software value management capabilities, giving software publishers an automated way to incorporate evaluation licensing capabilities into their products. This ever-growing list of integrated software value management capabilities frees software publishers to focus their energy on product innovation while streamlining and improving customer interactions.
