L-3 Communications Promotes Michael R. Orlowski to Vice President of Business Review

    NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2005--L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that Michael R. Orlowski has been promoted to vice president of business review. In this position, Mr. Orlowski will be responsible for overseeing the company's bids and proposals analysis, used to determine resource allocation and business investment. He will oversee the review and evaluation of bids and proposals, capital requirements and advance funding requests from the L-3 divisions, and due diligence related to the company's acquisition strategy. As the primary liaison between the L-3 divisions and corporate senior management, Mr. Orlowski will also be responsible for tracking division and overall corporate performance and status.
    Mr. Orlowski will continue to be based in L-3's New York office, reporting to David T. Butler, vice president of planning.
    Mr. Orlowski has extensive experience in business planning, acquisition due diligence, budgeting and government procurement in both the defense industry and in the U.S. Government. In 1967, he began his career as a staff auditor for the U.S. Government Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). Shifting to private sector work in 1984, Mr. Orlowski held senior-level business planning positions at technology and defense companies such as ITT, GEC Marconi, Loral Corporation and Lockheed Martin, before joining L-3 as senior director of business review in 1997. His responsibilities in this position included directing the review and evaluation of bids and proposals to the U.S. Government and commercial customers, L-3 divisions' capital requirement requests, and financial analysis and due diligence in relation to company acquisitions.
