L-3 Communications Buys Big Data Analytics Firm Data Tactics Corp.

(RTTNews) - L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. (LLL) Wednesday said it has acquired Data Tactics Corp., a specialized provider of Big Data analytics and cloud computing services primarily to the U.S. Department of Defense. Financial details of the transaction were not enclosed.

L-3 Communications said the acquisition would enhance existing National Security Solutions business and supports its growth as a solutions integrator for the national security and international markets. It is also expected to create opportunities for L-3's ISR business.

Data Tactics has about 200 employees, including more than 150 data scientists, engineers, architects and developers, most of whom possess U.S. government security clearances.

Data Tactics is expected to generate sales of about $50 million for the year ending December 31, 2014.
