Hoy Introduces Daily Vida Hoy Section Delivering Lifestyle and Entertainment News and Event Listings

CHICAGO, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Hoy, a Spanish-language daily newspaper serving New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, today introduced several editorial enhancements that provide readers an enhanced daily Vida Hoy section, two new sections, Al Frente and America Latina, and a daily finance and business page.

"Today's enhancements are the first in a series of improvements we'll be making to Hoy's editorial and advertising offerings over the next few months," said Digby Solomon Diez, Hoy Publisher. "The combination of our five distinct sections -- Vida Hoy, Al Frente, America Latina, Negocios and Deportes -- and a consistent graphic design will help our readers easily navigate our pages for their information needs."

Hoy readers have long enjoyed Vida Hoy, which had been a Friday feature, and is now included in each daily edition of the newspaper. The new daily Vida Hoy provides the latest celebrity gossip as well as local event and entertainment listings specific to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

"Vida Hoy provides our readers the most complete information on how to spend their hard-earned dollars in entertainment," said Alejandro Riera, Hoy national entertainment editor. "We're aggressively increasing our coverage of local events in all three markets as well as bringing our readers the latest and juiciest celebrity news. We hope that readers will see Vida Hoy as their trusted resource in finding entertainment options, news and information."

Vida Hoy also features a daily lifestyle feature for Hispanics that provides news, information and tips on technology, family, youth and cultural and lifestyle trends produced by ESCRITO. In the Chicago and Los Angeles publications, Vida Hoy readers will also find a new daily horoscope column by celebrity psychic and astrologer Walter Mercado.

"These changes are guided by what our readers -- Hispanics who prefer communicating in Spanish -- have told us they want," said Javier J. Aldape, Hoy editor and vice president of product and audience development. "In a recent proprietary study of more than 3,000 Hispanics in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, family and lifestyle information ranked among the top three topics our readers want from our newspapers."

Sections Al Frente and America Latina acknowledge that Hoy readers and their news interests often live in two worlds-the United States and their home countries. Al Frente, a four to five page section, provides the latest local, national and world news of interest. America Latina, a three to four page section, delivers news and information of interest from the home nations of Hoy's readers.

Hoy's new daily business/personal finance page, Negocios, provides news and information relevant to the business and financial lives of Hoy readers. The section will educate Hispanics about making wise consumer and personal financial choices, and features developments about the buying power of Hispanics in the U.S. and their impact on the U.S. economy. The business section will also feature success stories of small Hispanic businesses and business people who are not generally recognized for their achievements in English language media.

Deportes continues to provide daily coverage of the latest sports news, star athletes and scores, reporting on soccer, baseball, boxing, auto racing, tennis and more.
