Horace Mann Profit Misses Estimate, Revenue Beats

(RTTNews) - Horace Mann Educators Corp. (HMN), a provider of insurance for educators, Wednesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $25.4 million or $0.60 per share compared with $23.6 million or $0.57 per share last year.

Excluding items, operating earnings for the quarter were $0.55 per share compared with $0.59 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $265.6 million compared with $251.9 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.58 per share on revenues of $260.9 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking ahead to the full year, the company expects earnings of $2.20 to $2.30 per share, while analysts expect $2.33 per share.
