Gulf South and Texas Gas Hold Simultaneous Open Seasons
Business Editors/Energy Editors
HOUSTON & OWENSBORO, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2005--Gulf South Pipeline, L.P. and Texas Gas Transmission, LLC announced Friday that both pipelines are conducting simultaneous non-binding open seasons to address the need to move incremental natural gas supplies from Carthage, Texas and Northwestern Louisiana, to their markets.
Gulf South and Texas Gas, wholly owned subsidiaries of Loews Corporation, are seeking to expand market outlets for natural gas basins in North Louisiana and East Texas, including the Barnett Shale and Bossier Trends in Texas.
Gulf South Pipeline, L.P.
Gulf South has an extensive gathering and mainline transmission system in East Texas and North Louisiana that extends to West Monroe, Louisiana, and continues east throughout the Gulf Coast region. Gulf South is constrained out of the East Texas area and has limited capacity to move incremental supplies out of North Louisiana. An expansion on Gulf South will provide additional outlets for these growing supply basins to industrial plants, power plants, and local distribution companies, as well as pipelines served by Gulf South. Some of the major pipeline markets available on Gulf South include Texas Gas Lonewa, Columbia Barron, Florida Gas Arnaudville and Montpelier, Transco Holmesville, and Texas Eastern Kosciusko. The committed volumes will determine the timing of available capacity, with certain capacity available as soon as March 1, 2005.
Texas Gas Transmission, LLC
Texas Gas' North Louisiana system is fully subscribed on a firm basis. The North Louisiana system extends from the Duke Energy Field Services plant in Carthage, Texas to the Texas Gas mainline system near Bastrop, La.
Expanding capacity on this system will accomplish these objectives.

The proposed in-service date for incremental firm capacity could be as early as Nov. 1, 2005.
