Eclipsys’ Sunrise EPSi Continues to Capture Market Share
Eclipsys Corporation® (NASDAQ:ECLP), The Outcomes Company®, today announced that it has exceeded sales targets for its Sunrise EPSi™ solution in the first three quarters of 2008. Bolstered by broader sales reach following the Eclipsys acquisition of Enterprise Performance Systems, Inc. (EPSi) in February 2008, the company attributes much of the sales growth to strong hospital demand for replacement Integrated Performance Improvement (IPI) solutions in the face of greater financial pressures.
According to Tim Rutledge, Eclipsys’ vice president and general manger of Business Decision Support Solutions, the company is capitalizing on resurgence in demand for management analytics and monitoring tools as hospitals seek relief from compressed profit margins. "Because hospital income is based primarily on fixed reimbursements, the best financial leverage for any healthcare organization is to take better control of payer contracts and minimize fixed costs, such as labor and supplies. More than ever, decision support solutions, along with budgeting and contract modeling tools on an enterprise-wide level, are critical weapons for hospital senior management and department heads. Sunrise EPSi exemplifies the right product at the right time for the right industry. Our clients can rapidly gain a set of IPI solutions that provide comprehensive enterprise analytics tools as compared to older, competitor technology, which in most instances, are stand alone, disparate applications.”
The integrated database feature of Sunrise EPSi is what makes it a step up from traditional decision support tools, enabling hospitals to leverage data across all functional areas, including budgeting/planning, cost accounting and patient financial/clinical analysis. The single data model platform delivers comprehensive enterprise-wide performance measurement. Eclipsys Sunrise EPSi clients typically realize actionable data to support enhanced business performance within months of implementation. Hospitals also have the option to choose from a variety of modules that automate flexible budgeting, productivity, cost accounting, financial modeling, enterprise-wide reporting, and more.
In the third quarter of 2008, the company signed numerous new client agreements, including several competitive replacements, as well as sales into existing clients. Among the organizations that have recently contracted for Eclipsys’ Sunrise EPSi solution are: Alaska Native Health Tribal Consortium, Anchorage, AK; Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL; Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH; Children’s Hospital, Omaha, NE; Genesis HealthCare System, Zanesville, OH; Gundersen Lutheran Health System, La Crosse, WI; Lehigh Valley Hospital & Health Network, Allentown, PA; MetroSouth Medical Center, Blue Island, IL; University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, MS; and Valley Health System, Hemet, CA. "With more than 400 beds across our two acute-care hospitals and another 113 beds in our skilled nursing facility, we have a very complex financial profile and need to understand both high level performance and drill-down details,” said Hugh King, chief financial officer, Valley Health System."With Sunrise EPSi, we are getting away from of the old model of looking at historic reports to drive decision making, and into monitoring key performance indicators in real-time. To be able to channel current operational data and analysis into our daily decision making processes is a major improvement for us as an organization and represents a tremendous advantage going forward.”
