BROOKINGS, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2005--Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) recently installed an integrated scoring, video and advertising display system for the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. This unique system features a state-of-the-art center-hung display incorporating the latest in full-color light emitting diode (LED) technology, as well as two large ProAd(R) full-color displays on the interior fascia.
The center-hung scoreboard, measuring approximately 13 feet high by 18 feet wide by 18 feet deep, incorporates eight full-color displays. Four are high resolution ProStar(R) VideoPlus displays, which present live and recorded video images in trillions of colors. These displays, along with four additional full-color displays positioned below them, show entertaining animation, graphics, scores, statistics and other information viewable from nearly every angle in DCU Center. Another unique design feature of the center-hung scoreboard is its ability to be quickly lowered and disassembled for certain events that don't require its use.
To complement the center-hung scoreboard, two large ProAd(R) full-color displays have been installed. Mounted directly to the arena fascia, each measures nearly 150 feet in length. This technology is one of the latest applications of full-color LED technology in sports and entertainment venues, providing each patron with an even greater entertainment experience.
"On behalf of the City of Worcester and SMG, we are thrilled to launch the DCU Center into the 21st century of technology with the installation of our new center-hung video displays and electronic ribbon boards," said Sandy Dunn, General Manager of the DCU Center.     ProStar(R) VideoPlus and ProAd(R) digital display technology, available only from Daktronics, use the latest in red, green and blue (RGB) LED technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animation and vivid graphics with incredible brightness and wide angle visibility. ProStar(R) LED video display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
