(RTTNews) - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (CHKP) said its second-quarter GAAP net income improved to $151.0 million, or $0.76 per share, from the prior-year figure of $150.0 million, or $0.71 per share. On a non-GAAP basis, net income for the latest period amounted to $165.035 million, or $0.83 per share. On average, 28 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.81 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Quarterly total revenue was $340.2 million, up 4 percent, compared with $328.6 million a year before. Analysts estimated revenues of $337.22 million for the quarter.

The company said its quarterly results were highlighted by strong sequential growth in its product sales, and the top performers were the North American region and its new data center appliances. Check Point added that its software blades continued to deliver double-digit growth year-on-year, with threat prevention and application control technologies driving share gains.
