CDW-G Provides McAfee Total Protection for Enterprise Solutions to Federal Agencies under First Agreement for Anti-Virus Software Through SmartBuy Program
CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW
Corporation [NASDAQ:CDWC]
and leading source of Information Technology (IT) solutions to
governments and educators, today announced that it was awarded a
SmartBuy Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to offer McAfee®
Total Protection for Enterprise solutions and services to Federal
agencies at lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to
off-the-shelf purchasing.
Launched by the Office of Management and Budget in 2003, SmartBuy is the
Federal government-wide software enterprise-licensing program focused on
leveraging the government’s purchasing power
to reduce the cost of software for all agencies. The General Services
Administration (GSA) manages the program and has inked SmartBuy
agreements for a variety of software, including automated messaging,
database management, geographic information systems and networking
infrastructure.
All Federal civilian and Defense agencies are able to purchase off of
CDW-G’s SmartBuy BPA, a one-year agreement
with two one-year options. Only CDW-G is offering the highest level of
discount on McAfee’s Total Protection for
Enterprise suites to all agencies, regardless of their size. McAfee
Total Protection for Enterprise suites provide anti-spyware, anti-virus,
anti-spam, firewall, and intrusion prevention with single-console
management. According to GSA, all Federal agencies purchasing the Total
Protection for Enterprise Advanced suite, which includes all of the
above plus McAfee Network Access Control, must do so through a SmartBuy
BPA, absent a compelling justification to do otherwise.
"Because of our long-standing partnership with
McAfee, CDW-G is able to offer preferred pricing to Federal agencies
under the SmartBuy agreement,” said Andy
Lausch, director of federal sales for CDW-G. "This
new agreement will enable all Federal agencies to improve their
information system security while conserving funds for other equally
critical IT needs.”
The SmartBuy agreement offers the best value to agencies, while enabling
them to meet the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
requirement to use Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2
certified encryption modules in their security products. All McAfee
products include FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography modules, providing
Federal agencies with an added measure of information security assurance.
"Through the new SmartBuy agreement with
CDW-G, both large and small Federal agencies will be able to deploy full
systems security solutions – including
anti-spyware, anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall, intrusion prevention,
single-console management and advanced network access control –
at the same price they would typically pay for off-the-shelf antivirus
software alone,” said Mike Carpenter, vice
president of Federal Operations for McAfee, Inc. "Beyond
cost savings, purchasing through SmartBuy will eliminate software
license duplication, consolidate annual payments, and simplify license
management, saving agencies considerable time and administrative effort.”
