Business Objects Names David Kennedy as General Counsel
Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ)(Euronext Paris ISIN code:
FR0004026250 - BOB), the world’s leading
provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced the
appointment of David Kennedy as its new general counsel. Kennedy will
report directly to Business Objects’ CEO John
Schwarz. He will be based at the company’s
North America headquarters in San Jose, California.
Kennedy joins Business Objects from IBM, where he served as Associate
General Counsel for IBM Information Management, the fastest growing
group within IBM’s software business. During
his 18 year tenure at IBM, he spent several years in Paris as the head
of IBM’s European litigation group, and served
as counsel to a broad cross-section of IBM business units including the
PC business, Global Services, Global Network, and Marketing and Services.

energy, management experience and legal expertise to this pivotal role,”
said John Schwarz, chief executive officer of Business Objects. "His
outstanding track record in the international software industry will
bring additional tactical and strategic strength to our executive
committee, as we build on our leadership and growth in the business
intelligence market.”
During his career, Kennedy has led initiatives relating to M&A business
development; intellectual property; corporate compliance; litigation;
corporate finance; and work with federal, state and non-US governments.
Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
from the University of Connecticut School of Business Administration,
and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut
School of Law in 1989.
