Buffalo Wild Wings: Racist Tweets Were Not Ours
(RTTNews) - Buffalo Wild Wings apologized on Saturday for a series of racist messages that were briefly posted on its verified Twitter account, but were later deleted.
However, the restaurant chain maintained that the offending posts "obviously did not come from us" and that its Twitter account was hacked.
Buffalo Wild Wings added that it was in touch with its Twitter representatives and would pursue action against the "individuals involved."
The crude and racist tweets were visible for about twenty minutes before they were deleted. However, several Twitter users took screenshots of the messages and re-tweeted them.
This is the second controversy that Buffalo Wild Wings has been involved within the span of a week.
Buffalo Wild Wings had earlier said it would give a year's free supply of chicken wings to a homeless man in Louisiana, who received a disparaging note from the company's employees on his order slip. The company said that the employees involved in writing the note would be terminated.
In November 2017, Roark Capital Group's Arby's Restaurant Group said it agreed to buy Buffalo Wild Wings in a deal valued at about $2.9 billion, including debt. The deal was completed in February 2018.
