BJ's Wholesale Club Q2 Earnings Beat Estimates

(RTTNews) - BJ's Wholesale Club Holdings, Inc. (BJ) on Thursday reported net income of $110.99 million or $0.80 per share in the second quarter, higher than $106.62 million or $0.76 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

Excluding items, earnings of $0.82 per share beat the average estimate of 19 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters at $0.63 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales in the quarter jumped 5.6% to $4.088 billion from $3.872 billion last year. The consensus estimate was for $3.77 billion.

"Given the level of uncertainty associated with the evolution of the pandemic, fiscal 2021 remains difficult to forecast. Our view of the future has improved from last quarter but we will continue to refrain from offering formal detailed guidance," said Laura Felice, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, BJ's Wholesale Club.
