Athenahealth Slips To Loss In Q2; Backs FY13 Outlook

(RTTNews) - Athenahealth Inc.'s (ATHN) Thursday, posted second-quarter GAAP net loss of $12.4 million, or $0.34 per share, compared to GAAP net income of $4.2 million or $0.11 per share in the same period last year.

Non-GAAP net loss in the latest second quarter was $3.1 million or $0.08 per share, compared to net income of $9.0 million or $0.24 per share in the prior year period. On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.22 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Meanwhile, total revenue for the quarter rose 41 percent to $146.30 million, compared with $103.52 million in the comparable quarter last year, while 17 analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $148.22 million for the quarter.

Looking forward to 2013, the company still expects adjusted net income of $1.05 to $1.15 per share and revenues of $580 million to $615 million in the year-ago quarter. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $1.10 per share on revenues of $597.42 million for 2013.
