Athenahealth Q3 Profit Plunges; Backs FY13 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Athenahealth Inc.'s (ATHN) Thursday, posted third-quarter GAAP net income of $1.2 million, or $0.03 per share, compared to $6.2 million, or $0.17 per share in the same period last year.

Non-GAAP net income in the latest third quarter was $11.15 million or $0.29 per share, down from $11.18 million or $0.30 per share in the prior year period. On average, 19 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.31 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Meanwhile, total revenue for the quarter rose 43 percent to $151.53 million, compared with $105.89 million in the comparable quarter last year, while 17 analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $155.00 million for the quarter.

Looking forward to 2013, the company still expects adjusted net income of $1.05 to $1.15 per share and revenues of $580 million to $615 million in the year-ago quarter. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $1.02 per share on revenues of $594.70 million for 2013.
