Athenahealth Profit Crushes Estimates, Revenue Misses

(RTTNews) - athenahealth Inc (ATHN) on Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $9.3 million or $0.24 per share compared with a loss of $2.2 million or $0.06 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.32 per share, unchanged from a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were up at $224.7 million compared with $186 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.25 per share on revenues of $226.6 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the full year 2015, the company now expects adjusted earnings to be at or above the mid-point of its previous guidance of $1.10 to $1.20 per share, and likewise expects revenues at or above the mid-point of its prior range of $905 million to $925 million. Analysts expect earnings of $1.18 per share on revenues of $917.4 million.

athenahealth provides cloud-based services and mobile applications for medical groups and health systems.
