Are You Smelling Exhaust Fumes In Your Ford SUV?
(RTTNews) - The U.S. auto safety agency National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation after receiving several complaints from owners of Ford Explorer who reported smelling exhaust odors in the car.
NHTSA said it received 154 complaints involving 2011 to 2015 Ford Explorers which report occupants smelling exhaust odors in the occupant compartment, some of which expressed concerns about exposure to carbon monoxide.
One customer also complained about a low speed crash incident as well, with no injuries.
The agency said that the complaints indicate that operating the vehicle with full throttle applications and use of the air conditioning system in recirculation mode both contribute to exhaust gas being detected in the vehicle.
