Americans Frightened About Safety Of Financial Info

(RTTNews) - Most of the Americans are worried over the safety of their financial information, however, most of them seem careless when it comes to protecting it.

According to a survey conducted on 1,000 people by MasterCard, 77 percent people were worried about the safety of their financial information. About 55 percent people even said they would rather have their nude photos leaked online than have their financial information compromised.

About 62 percent of those surveyed were concerned about their email being hacked, while 59 percent expressed concern about their house being robbed.

Meanwhile, 46 percent people admitted that they rarely or never change the passwords for their financial accounts and about 44 percent use same password for multiple accounts. Further, 39 percent admitted of accessing financial accounts using public networks.

According to experts, changing passwords occasionally and using multiple and unique passwords will help customers protect their financial information from hackers. Experts also advise against using public networks to access financial accounts.

About 95 percent of consumers surveyed said they expected banks to possess the latest technologies to keep them safe.
