Twitter, Inc. (TWTR) surged 29 percent to $49.75. The company's second quarter GAAP net loss widened from the year-ago quarter, but swung to a profit on a non-GAAP basis. Revenue jumped 124 percent and surpassed its previously provided guidance range. Average monthly active users were 271 million as of June 30, 2014, an increase of 24 percent year-over-year. The company also raised its full year of 2014 revenue outlook.

Amgen Inc. (AMGN) gained over 4 percent to $128.75. The company's second quarter adjusted earnings per share and revenues were above analysts' expectations. The company also announced a restructuring plan, under which it will reduce staff by 2,400-2,900, representing 12 to 15 percent of its global workforce.

ZELTIQ Aesthetics, Inc. (ZLTQ) soared 28 percent to $21.25. The company reported a net profit in its second quarter. Total revenue rose 79 percent and topped the consensus estimate. The company also raised its full year 2014 revenue guidance.

Decliners:

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. (DWA) was down 9 percent to $20.58. The company slipped to a loss in its second quarter. Revenues plunged from the year-ago quarter and missed the consensus estimate. The company noted that its second quarter results were impacted by the reduction of the contingent consideration related to its prior acquisition of AwesomenessTV.

Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. (BWLD) declined 10 percent to $149.50 despite reporting second quarter results that topped Wall Street view. The company forecast net earnings growth to exceed 25 percent for 2014, and could reach 30 percent.
