U.K. Construction Output Recovers In September

(RTTNews) - U.K. construction output expanded unexpectedly in September reversing a decline seen a month ago, the Office for National Statistics reported Friday.

Construction output grew 0.3 percent on month in contrast to August's 1.1 percent decrease. Output was forecast to drop 0.4 percent.

On a yearly basis, construction output growth slowed to 0.2 percent from 0.8 percent in August. Economists had forecast output to remain flat in September.

In the third quarter, construction output fell at a faster pace of 1.1 percent after easing 0.1 percent in the preceding period.

The gross domestic product preliminary estimate showed construction output decreased by 1.4 percent. The revision to a decrease of 1.1 percent has no impact on GDP to 1 decimal place, the ONS said.
