Turkey Current Account Deficit Widens In September

(RTTNews) - Turkey's current account deficit increased in September, figures from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey showed Friday.

The current account deficit rose to $1.68 billion in September from $1.53 billion in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the balance showed a surplus of $167 million.

The deficit on good trade narrowed to $3.24 billion in September from $3.58 billion in August. At the same time, the total trade deficit including services rose to $899 million from $825 million.

The capital account remained balanced in September. Meanwhile, the financial account turned to a surplus of $3.17 billion from a deficit of $3.71 billion.
