Taiwan's Exports Unexpectedly Stagnate In November
(RTTNews) - Taiwan's exports recorded no change in November from a year earlier after a 1.5 percent fall in October, the latest figures from the Ministry of Finance revealed Monday.
Economists had forecast a 2.1 percent increase in exports last month. Overseas shipments amounted to $24.89 billion in November.
Imports fell 0.5 percent annually to $21.38 billion while expectations were for a 1.5 percent increase.
The trade balance showed a surplus of $3.51 billion during the month, only marginally lower than $3.52 billion in October.
Shipments to China and Hong Kong rose 6.5 percent from last year. However, exports to Asean, Japan, the U.S. and Europe fell compared with a year earlier.
