Slovenia Consumer Prices Fall For Eighth Month

(RTTNews) - Slovenia's consumer prices declined for the eighth straight month in August, figures from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia showed Monday.

The consumer price index fell 0.3 percent year-over-year in August, following a 0.4 percent drop in the previous month. Prices have been falling since January this year.

Transport cost dipped 4.8 percent annually in August and that for utility costs went down by 0.8 percent, Meanwhile, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 1.8 percent.

Month-on-month, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent in August, reversing a 0.2 percent decrease in July. It was the first increase in three months.

The EU measure of inflation, the harmonized index of consumer prices slid 0.6 percent in August from a year ago, while it showed no variations from the preceding month.
