Romania Average Net Wages Fall 3% In May

(RTTNews) - Romania's average monthly earnings decreased from the previous month in May, data released by the National Institute of Statistics showed Friday.

Average net monthly wages and salaries, on a nominal basis, declined 3 percent month-on-month in May.

Net earnings in the mining and quarrying sector dropped 6.5 percent from the previous month, and wages in the manufacturing sector decreased by 2.2 percent.

Wages and salaries in industries engaged in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, steam and air conditioning fell 5.1 percent sequentially.

At the same time, gross earning of Romanian employees decreased 3.2 percent sequentially during the month, the agency said.
