Poland Q3 Current Account Deficit Narrows

(RTTNews) - Poland's current account deficit in the third quarter narrowed from the same period last year, data released by the National Bank of Poland showed Thursday.

The current account deficit shrunk to EUR 2.072 billion from EUR 3.606 billion in the same period last year. Economists had forecast a shortfall of EUR 2.306 billion. In the second quarter, there was a surplus of EUR 486 million.

The merchandise trade showed a surplus of EUR 1.017 billion versus a deficit of EUR 419 million a year ago. The surplus in the services trade came in at EUR 1.047 billion, which was slightly smaller than last year's EUR 1.084 billion.

The income account showed a shortfall of EUR 4.644 billion compared to EUR 5.027 billion last year. Current transfers revealed a surplus of EUR 508 million versus EUR 756 million in the same period a year ago.
