Mexico Inflation Accelerates More Than Expected In November

(RTTNews) - Mexico's consumer price inflation quickened in November, exceeding economists' expectations, data released by the statistical office INEGI showed on Monday.

The consumer price index rose 3.62 percent year-on-year, following 3.36 percent in October. Economists had forecast an inflation figure of 3.54 percent for the month.

Month-on-month, prices rose 0.93 percent in November, after a 0.48 percent gain in the previous month. Economists were looking for a figure of 0.85 percent.

Core inflation accelerated to 2.56 percent from 2.48 percent in November. On a monthly basis, the core CPI rose 0.14 percent, which was slightly slower than October's 0.19 percent increase. Economists had forecast a 0.16 percent gain.

Separately, the agency announced that producer price inflation was 1.09 percent during November. Producer prices rose 0.31 percent from the previous month.
