Latvia Q2 Jobless Rate Lowest Since 2008

(RTTNews) - Latvia's unemployment rate in the second quarter was the lowest in more than five years, figures from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia showed Thursday.

The jobless rate fell to 10.7 percent from 11.9 percent in the first three months of the year. It was the lowest rate since the fourth quarter of 2008, when the figure was 10.2 percent. In the same quarter of 2013, the jobless rate was 11.4 percent.

The youth jobless rate that applies to the 15-24 age group, meanwhile, rose to 16.7 percent from 13 percent in the previous three months.

The number of unemployed fell to 106,200 from 118,700 in the previous quarter. That was the lowest figure since the third quarter of 2008.
