Indonesia Trade Balance Swings To Deficit In November

(RTTNews) - Indonesia's foreign trade deficit turned to a deficit in November as the decline in exports exceeded the fall in imports, figures from Statistics Indonesia showed Friday.

The trade balance showed a deficit of $0.42 billion in November compared to a surplus of $0.02 billion in the previous month. During the same month of last year, the surplus totaled $0.79 billion.

Total exports of the country plunged 11.29 percent month-on-month in November and imports dropped by 8.39 percent.

On a yearly basis, exports declined 14.57 percent in November and imports fell by 7.31 percent.

In the January to November period, the merchandise trade deficit came in at $2.07 billion versus a $5.57 billion deficit in the same period last year. Both exports and imports fell 2.36 percent and 4.34 percent, respectively.
