Greek Consumer Prices Fall Again
(RTTNews) - Consumer prices in Greece declined for a ninth consecutive month in November, data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Monday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, a measure of inflation harmonized across the EU states, declined 2.9 percent year-on-year in November following a 1.9 percent drop in October.
The index has been falling steadily since March this year. The HICP fell 1.3 percent on a month-on-month basis.
Similarly, the consumer price index fell 2.9 percent year-on-year in November. This followed a 2 percent decline in October. Month-on-month, the CPI was down 1.4 percent.
Prices of food and non alcoholic beverages declined 1.2 percent in November from last year. Costs of alcoholic beverages and tobacco were up 3.5 percent.
Clothing and footwear prices plunged 11.5 percent year-on-year and housing costs declined 0.5 percent. Transport charges were 2.7 percent lower than a year earlier.
