Australia Trade Deficit Biggest Since 2015
(RTTNews) - Australia's trade deficit widened to its highest level since 2015 in May, data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
The trade balance posted a deficit of A$3.02 billion compared to a surplus of A$1.38 billion in April. This was the biggest shortfall since 2015.
This was the second seasonally adjusted trade deficit in 2026. Exports dropped 6.9 percent driven by non-monetary gold and metal ores and minerals. Meanwhile, imports increased 2.6 percent on higher non-industrial transport equipment and civil aircraft and confidentialised items, the statistical office said.
