Moody's: Liquidity key as US coal producers seek to weather extended downturn

New York, August 08, 2013 -- Business conditions for US coal producers will remain depressed through next year, Moody's Investors Service says in a new report, and those with the strongest liquidity are best positioned to deal with an extended period of weakness. The industry has suffered as coal's share of US electricity production has slipped amid historically low natural gas prices due to the shale-drilling revolution.
