Markel Corporation -- Moody's affirms Essentia Insurance (A2 IFS); changes outlook to negative
New York, December 13, 2013 -- Moody's Investors Service has affirmed the A2 insurance financial strength (IFS) rating of Essentia Insurance Company ("Essentia"), based on explicit support from a lead insurance subsidiary of Markel Corporation ("Markel'; NYSE: MKL). In the same rating action, Moody's changed Essentia's rating outlook to negative from stable, reflecting the rating outlook on Markel and its lead insurance subsidiaries.
