Wisconsin Energy Group Q1 Profit Rises 70%

(RTTNews) - Wisconsin Energy Group (WEC) released earnings for its first quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $346.2 million, or $1.09 per share. This was higher than $204.1 million, or $0.90 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.01 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 57.6% to $2.19 billion. This was up from $1.39 billion last year.
