Virgin Unite Appoints Velti As Mobile Messaging Partner for The Nelson Mandela Appeal

This is the first year to have powered donations through the mobile platform, marking a milestone for the non-profit foundation.

Virgin Unite is supporting the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in South Africa to honor his extraordinary life and values. July 18 is known around the globe as Mandela Day (www.mandeladay.com) – a celebration of the wonderful Nelson Mandela, his tireless struggle for human dignity and his lifelong commitment to pursue the greater good.

Velti and Virgin Unite have set up a text campaign to allow the public to donate via their mobile phones. In addition, Richard Branson has been championing the campaign through social media, urging staff and friends around the world to participate .

All funds donated via text messaging, and through www.virginmoneygiving.com/nelsonmandela will go directly to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Inaugurated by Nelson Mandela in 2004, the Centre focuses on three areas of work: the Life and Times of Nelson Mandela, Dialogue for Social Justice, and Nelson Mandela International Day.
